About Organisation:
Ndejje University is private, multi –campus, Christian university in Uganda. Established in 1992, Ndejje University is the oldest private university and the fastest growing in Uganda. In 1995 the university gained its status under the ownership of six church of Uganda dioceses in Buganda Region in what is known as “Ndejje university Foundation consortium”. The consortium is registered as Company limited by Guarantee, not having share capital.
Job Summary: To prepare the relevant documents for expenditure transactions.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Capture information regarding University expenditures into the accounting system.
- Ensure proper filing of all expenditure related documents.
- Bank reconciliations for all University bank accounts.
- Maintain and reconcile the University creditors.
- Prepare accurate and complete withholding tax returns.
- Post and follow up of the accountabilities for all funds advanced to University staff for official work.
- Monitoring of the University expenditure versus annual budgets.
- Post all the departmental petty cash and ensure that it is properly accounted for.
- Maintain and reconcile the University fixed asset register.
- Prepare weekly cash flow report.
- Any other duties that shall be assigned by the immediate supervisor.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with bias in Accounting or Finance, or any other related Accounting and Finance Degree obtained from a recognized institution of higher learning.
- At least level II of professional qualification in Accounting like CPA or ACCA.
- At least two (2) years’ work experience as an Accounts Assistant in a reputable organisation.
- Knowledge of computerised accounting packages.
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work beyond normal working hours.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- A person with experience in higher education institutions will have an added advantage.
- A mature and practicing Christian who subscribes to the University’s Core values and Philosophy.
- A person of very good standing within the Church and community.
- Between 25-35 years of age at the time of application.
