Job Summary: Assist the Manager Equity in growing the Bank’s Equity investment portfolio and providing advice on Equity Investment decisions
Accountability Statement The job holder shall promote/mobilize Equity business, analyze and/or appraise equity funding proposals as well as monitor such businesses in the Bank’s portfolio, with the view of ensuring sustainable equity financing
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support the Bank’s business growth objective through timely and comprehensive due diligence of existing and prospective investees to ascertain sustainability and commercial viability
- Using a mix of equity instruments, and based on analysis and due diligence, to structure the most appropriate intervention that will build investee capacity, create value and ensure profitable exit.
- To prepare and process Expressions of Interest and related documentation and reports for consideration by the Equity Review Committee (ERC) and Board Equity Investment Committee (BEIC) as per the Equity Policy and guidelines
- Ensure that all Expressions of Interest and requisite documentation is processed in compliance with the provisions of the Equity Policy and associated Manuals with any exceptions noted and compensating controls highlighted.
- Maintain and document a high quality, robust equity investment pipeline, in line with UDBL’s strategic objectives and mandate
- Assist the Manager Equity in the monitoring of the performance and grading of the investments portfolio and pipeline on a monthly/ongoing basis and to recommend relevant remedial actions following the Equity policy.
- Assist the Manager Equity in other strategic roles including but not limited to annual business plan development, policy review, market research and advice on exit strategies
- Any such roles that may be assigned from time to time
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Minimum of a good first or advanced degree from a reputable education institution, with a bias in finance, business studies, economics, statistics, applied mathematics, accounting or a related field is required.
- Full or part CFA and/or similar qualification is desirable
Experience
- A strong finance/investment background with working experience of a minimum 5 years in capital markets, equity investments or related fields in reputable institutions
- Solid Governance experience or experience working closely with Board(s) of Directors desirable
Competencies
- Strong Analytical and problem –solving skills
- Strong affinity for numbers / numerical proficiency
- Mastery of contemporary financial modeling
- Excellent report writing and communication skills
- Demonstrable knowledge of national and regional business and economic trends
- Sound Commercial awareness and Business acumen
- Ability to manage/work with multidisciplinary teams
- Good working knowledge of relevant laws including law relating to contracting and company law
- Superior Planning and Organizing skills
