About the Company:

Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) is a semi-autonomous agency of Government responsible for maintenance, coordination, supervising and monitoring of the National Statistical System to ensure the collection, analysis and dissemination of standardised statistical information. The Bureau is also mandated as the principal official statistics producing agency in the country. The Bureau is also mandated as the principal official statistics producing agency in the country.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Deputise for and support the ED in the formulation, planning and implementation of the Bureau’s corporate strategy and ensure the workplan is implemented as planned.
• Supervise preparation of half-year and annual performance reviews and reports to present to the Board and the Minister.
• Oversee preparation of the Annual Reports for the Bureau.
• Responsible for effective risk and compliance management of the Bureau through the establishment and implementation of proper monitoring and control systems.
• Support the ED to oversee the day-to-day operations of the Bureau to ensure they are effectively and efficiently coordinated especially in their absence.
• Manage and promote harmonious relationships with key stakeholders and support the ED in representing the interests of the Bureau in local and international fora, by developing and implementing the UBOS Client Charter,
• Oversee the development and effective implementation of robust business strategies aimed at widening the Bureau’s revenue and supporting professional development in the NSS.
• Prepare and submit quarterly and annual reports on the activities of the Bureau.
• Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Executive

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

• Twelve (12) years, two (2) of which are at a senior management level.
• Analytical, Interpersonal skills, Report writing, Communication skills.
• Must be knowledgeable in the use of computer applications
• Proven leadership skills
• Objectivity and independence
• Possess the ability to work as a team.
• Analytical, interpersonal and change management skills
• Masters’ Degree in Statistics, Quantitative Economics, Economics, Demography or related disciplines.
• Post Graduate Diploma Public Administration and Management or related qualifications in leadership courses will be an added advantage.
• Must posses a Bachelor’s Degree with Honours in Statistics, Quantitative Economics, Bachelor of Science in Economics and Statistics, Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Economics, Population Studies or Demography.
