Job Summary:   The purpose of this assignment is to offer support as a consultant in implementation of the PROACT, DGD Project at the level of Child Protection in Emergency Officer for a period of 3 months from the date of joining.

The Consultant is responsible for implementing CPiE activities and serves as a focal person in bridging and coordinating PIU activities and in Kululu Sub-county, Bijo Sub-county, Barakala Town Council, and Kochi Sub-county.

 

The consultant will be crucial in building trust, facilitating community activity, and ensuring that the organization’s activities align with community’s needs, values, and

expectations.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with community targeted project participants (leaders, stakeholders, and vulnerable children) in the refugee and host community by organizing child centered activities.
  • Support case management activities for UASCs in the assigned community.
  • Mobilize community members and children to attend community awareness sessions, dialogues on child protection related activities, and discussion on End Child Marriage and teenage pregnancies, positives discipline and parenting, peaceful co-existence in homes among others.
  • Support in implementation of detailed implementation plan(workplans) and budget utilization, management, and monitoring for activities directly for PROACT project in line with the Plan International Uganda’s guidelines.
  • The position holder will support provide clear, accurate, and timely information about the project objectives, timelines, and activities to the community and share feedback from the community to the organization to understand community concerns, preferences, and child protection context in relation to project of documents.
  • Gather feedback on the organization’s activities, share significant stories, and identify needs of the project participants especial vulnerable children and women to better align with the project documents to address community expectations.
  • Conduct training sessions for community members on Plan International Models such as VLSA using the Enterprise your Life Model and provide revolving fund to scale up or start up IGAs to build the skills that will enable them to contribute actively to the project.
  • Prepare and submit regularly reports to CPiE Coordinator on activities conducted (trainings, meeting, and progress reports (Weekly, monthly and quarterly) for all completed activities.
  • Conduct reflection meetings and trainings for CBCP structures and support mentorship and coaching
  • Take up to perform any other responsibilities and duties as may be assigned by the CPIE Specialist, Coordinator, and the PROACT Project Manager.
  • Comply with Plan International Safeguarding and PSHEA, and other policies during the time of contract.





Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work and social administration, Development Studies, Social Sciences or any relevant field with demonstrated relevant experience implementing child protection in emergency programs.
  • At least 3 years professional experience in implementing CPiE programs in humanitarian context.
  • Possess the ability to work with different partners, local authorities, local organizations and NGOs, to develop and maintain positive collaboration and relationship.
  • Past exposure and experience with community, stakeholder’s engagement as well as children work and coordination.
  • Good oral and written communication in English and local language where assigned (Juba Arabic and Lugbara are preferred).
  • MUST be knowledgeable on the use of Progres V4
  • MUST be to ride a Motorcycle with a valid riding permit.

Other requirements:

  • Ability to work with partners to identify priority growth areas within the organization and develop goals based on results of assessments
  • Ability to design and deliver trainings, provide on-the-job coaching or mentorship support and facilitate workshops to support partners` capacity development priorities
  • Good analytical skills as required to obtain and process information and numerical data from a range of sources and use the insights gained to inform decisions or communications.
  • Good written and spoken communication skills, with an ability to effectively adjust content and presentation so as to connect with an audience.
  • The consultant must be willing to abide by Plan International Uganda policies and procedures during the period.
  • The Consultant shall indemnify Plan International Uganda, its implementing partners, and its staff against any claims, that may arise in connection with the performance of this Agreement by the Consultant.
  • The Consultant shall declare that all works carried out during the Consultancy duration remain the property of Plan International Uganda.
  • Should show commitment and availability at place of work as per the stated period of the Consultancy.
  • The consultant must be willing to undertake assignment at Plan International Uganda – Yumbe Field Office.

 

Remuneration: The Consultant will be entitled to Ugx 172,727 per day worked towards his/her professional fees for the assignment.
