About Organisation:

African Youth Development Link (AYDL) is the leading youth-focused not-for-profit Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) in Uganda on a mission to empower young people and youth to participate in governance and development decision-making processes at all levels. Established on 14th July 2009, AYDL advocates the implementation and reform of laws and policies for increased youth participation in leadership and democratic governance processes at local and national levels for progress and change in Uganda and beyond.

 

Job Summary:   The District Coordinator will lead the implementation of AYDL’s programs at the district level, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, engagement with local stakeholders, and the effective delivery of impactful activities. The role requires strong project management skills, community engagement expertise, and the ability to coordinate multiple activities to achieve program objectives.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Project Coordination

  • Plan, execute, and monitor the implementation of all project activities within the assigned district.
  • Ensure that project deliverables, timelines, and objectives are achieved in line with AYDL’s strategic goals and donor requirements.
  • Collaborate with the central program team to adapt activities to district-specific contexts while maintaining program fidelity.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Establish and maintain productive relationships with local government officials, community leaders, civil society organizations, and other key stakeholders.
  • Represent AYDL at district-level meetings, forums, and advocacy events, ensuring the organization’s visibility and influence.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for district-level stakeholders, facilitating effective communication and collaboration.

Reporting

  • Prepare comprehensive and timely reports detailing project progress, challenges, and recommendations for improvement.
  • Document and disseminate lessons learned, success stories, and best practices to enhance program effectiveness.
  • Ensure that reporting aligns with USAID and organizational standards.

Capacity Building

  • Organize and facilitate training sessions, workshops, and seminars for local partners, community leaders, and program beneficiaries.
  • Support awareness campaigns and advocacy initiatives to promote community-level engagement and ownership.
  • Strengthen the capacity of local stakeholders to sustain project outcomes.

Monitoring and Evaluation

  • Collaborate with the M&E team to ensure the collection and analysis of data to assess project impact.
  • Participate in regular project reviews and feedback sessions to identify areas for improvement.





Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Development Studies, Social Sciences, Public Administration, or related fields.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in project management, preferably within a district-level context.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of local governance structures, cultural dynamics, and stakeholder networks.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities to handle multiple tasks effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software tools.
  • Familiarity with USAID or other donor-funded project requirements is an advantage.

Physical and Other Requirements

  • Ability to travel extensively within the assigned district and occasionally to other regions as needed.
  • Flexibility to work irregular hours, including weekends, as project demands arise.
