About the Company:

Uganda Conservation Foundation (UCF) is a not for profit organisation registered in the UK and Uganda which is dedicated to protecting Uganda’s national parks, protected areas and conservancies.

 

Job Summary:   The Project Officer will be stationed in the field office in Kidepo Valley Conservation Area Landscape, working closely with the Project Manager, technical staff and stakeholders to ensure effective implementation of project activities.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Project implementation:

  • Planning, coordination, and implementation of the project activities between technical staff and stakeholders.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of day-to-day workplans and operational budgets.
  • Conduct stakeholder engagements and collaboration within the project area on all matters related to the project implementation.
  • Supervise and monitor project activities, including collection of data for monitoring, evaluation and learning.
  • Responsible for proper utilisation of project assets and resources in line with UCF’s relevant policies, procedures and standards.
  • Ensure project implementation is always harmonized with approved project plans and budgets.

Stakeholder engagement:

  • Support existing stakeholder networks and collaborations
  • Support stakeholder network/collaborative meetings and engagements.
  • Compliance to governance and project policies

Reporting:

  • Ensure timely collection of data and information needed for project monitoring, evaluation and learning.
  • Work closely with the Communications Manager and the M & E Manager to document success stories and reporting internally and externally.
  • Prepare and submit monthly activity reports in line with UCF guidelines.





Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Relevant University degree.
  • At least five years experience of project implementation and management, collaborating with stakeholders and liaising with partner organisations and community groups.
  • Experience working with government entities, development partners and aid agencies
  • Proven knowledge and experience of the not-for-profit sector, preferably conservation focused non-government organizations.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to develop and maintain strong relationships at all levels, including with local communities, government agencies, the not-for-profit sector.
  • Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team is an advantage.
  • Good verbal, written communication in English.
  • Good and demonstratable report writing skills.
  • Self-driven, diligent and highly organised individual.
  • Willing to work in remote areas and passionate about conservation.
  • Detail-oriented and self-motivated individual.
  • Strong community engagement experience and skills
  • Previous experience working in the Karamoja region is highly desirable.
