We are an international NGO committed to environmental protection active in almost 100 countries. WWF has a growing conservation Programme in the Republic of Uganda. WWF Uganda Country Office (WWF UCO) works with central and local government agencies, private sector, civil society organizations (CSOs) and the local communities to implement its various conservation programmes on Energy and Climate, Forestry and Wildlife, and Freshwater in Uganda.

 

Job Summary:   The intern under general supervision of a Project Manager, will perform a variety of routine moderate to challenging administrative, specialized or technical assignments in support to a department, division and/or Thematic area.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides day-to-day administrative and technical support to staff of the assigned department.
  • Assists in providing information on departmental policies, procedures, and programs; responds to inquiries and complaints and refers as appropriate.
  • Provides project assistance, based on assigned department or division, by assisting with project development tasks, internal processes and standardization, data collection and analysis.
  • Preparing field reports summarizing activities, findings, and observations during fieldwork, to be used for internal or external purposes.
  • Assisting in logistical planning for activity implementation including organizing community meetings, trainings and other field activities.
  • Supporting Stakeholder engagements with local communities, government officials, and partner organizations to promote collaborative conservation efforts.
  • Undertake data collection, compilation, tabulation, and analysis, such as, Environmental Education & Outreach Programs
  • Supporting the grant proposal development teams in document compilation for fundraising initiatives
  • Drafting plans and or reports, gathering, compiling, and presenting data for existing projects
  • Populating the Geographic Information System (GIS) database for Conservation Mapping
  • Assists in preparing, reviewing, and compiling draft budgets and workplans
  • Supporting the communications teams with sharing updates on conservation activities for our social media accounts
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.





Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant must hold a Bachelors Degree in Wildlife Ecology, Forestry, Environment and Natural Resource Management

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Excellent computer skills and proficiency microsoft office applications
  • Fluency in English and at least one other local language spoken in the Albertine Graben
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Research and analytical skills
  • Ability to work in remote locations with basic social amenities and rough terrains
  • Ability to interpret, apply departmental policies and procedures and quickly learn new ideas
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate workload
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with people in a diverse-cultural environment
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
