Job Summary: The Senior Manager Devices and Acquisition will serve as the primary custodian for device sales and acquisition within MTN Uganda. This role is responsible for ensuring that all device-related activities align with industry standards and best practices, driving sales performance, and enhancing customer experience.

Job Title: Senior Manager – Devices
Reports to: General Manager – Sales & Distribution

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead the strategy and execution of device sales initiatives, ensuring alignment with MTN Uganda’s business objectives.
- Manage device specifications, customizations, testing and onboarding process, including the introduction of new device features on the network.
- Manage Device orders end-to-end including ensuring all necessary documentations and certifications are secured.
- In conjunction with our Device partners and procurement, ensure availability of a wide range of devices and adequate stock levels at all touch points.
- Development of consumer and retail/channel value propositions for devices
- Identify and evaluate new devices to meet customers demand and develop initial business cases to support new device requirements. Source insights from channel & segments profitability and BI to ensure proper creation & feasibility of offer creation – continuously assess product potential and profitability.
- Strategic Partnerships with Original Equipment/Device Manufacturers (OEMs/ODMs) to drive device market share.
- Lead device launches and relevant special projects in coordination with the internal teams.
- Manage the reports and progress of the devices launched and provide the insight for devices.
- Monitor and evaluate market trends and provide competitive insight and bring development ideas/concept papers to the relevant stakeholders to generate positive revenue and differentiate device offerings.
- Review device performance (along all defined criteria) and provide senior management with response actions in keeping in line with set business objective and goals and develop contingency plans as required to address shortfalls or excesses.
- Report (device reporting and tracking) monthly to management relating to progress made against target.
- Supervisory / Leadership / Managerial Complexity:
- Manage direct and dotted line reports.
- Provide leadership for the company for all reporting, process, quality management, and project management resources.
- Communicate actively and effectively, resolving any potential conflicts that may arise.
- Working with 3rd party vendors and distributors.
- A good understanding of systems, networks and mobile telecoms, mobile applications, and mobile devices
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
Education
- Bachelors’ degree in BA, Commerce, Economics, or related qualification
Other Training:
- Project, customer, and stakeholder management skills
- Business Intelligence and Data Analytic skills
- Report writing skills (MS PowerPoints, MS Word, MS Excel)
Work Experience
- Minimum 7 years’ experience within a sales and Distribution environment.
- Experience in device specification development, device supply, retail/sales, support, channel development and problem management.
- Proven experience in customer management, market research, marketing strategy execution, and performance tracking
Skills & Attributes
- A good understanding of systems, networks and mobile telecoms, mobile applications and mobile devices
- Vendor or contractor management skills
- Flexibility and Agility regarding working hours.
- Planning and organizational skills
- Communication/reporting skills (verbal and written)
