Job Title: Senior Accountant

Ugandan Technology and Management University (UTAMU) is a private university that was established by the National Council for Higher Education in March 2013, in accordance with the laws of Uganda. UTAMU is accredited to run academic programmes at all levels of the Higher education system.
Job Summary: Uganda Technology and Management University (UTAMU) is actively searching for an individual to serve as a Senior Accountant.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare and record asset, liability, revenue, and expenses entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
- Maintain and balance subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, reconciling transactions and resolving discrepancies.
- Maintain general ledger by transferring subsidiary accounts; preparing a trial balance; reconciling entries.
- Oversee the preparation and production of payroll by initiating computer processing; printing checks, verifying finished product. Complete external audit by analyzing and scheduling general ledger accounts; providing information for auditors.
- Secure financial information by completing database backups.
- File accounts records and ensure that they can be easily retrieved whenever required and accessible to authorized persons only.
- Prepare schedules for accounts receivables and accounts payables and ensure that they are updated regularly.
- Participate in the preparation of the annual financial reports.
- Prepare monthly cash flows.
- Write books of accounts, process payments and keep up to date records of accounts in accordance with the UTAMU financial rules and regulations.
- Protect organization’s value by keeping information confidential.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Professional certification(e.g. CPA, ACC)
- Postgraduate qualification is an added advantage.
- Bachelors degree in accounting, finance or in a relevant field.
- At least 5 years experience of work in a reputable organization.
