Job Summary: The Head of Security is responsible for the strategic leadership, development, and management of the organization’s overall security operations. This role includes protecting the company’s physical, digital, and human assets by overseeing the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of security policies, procedures, and infrastructure. The individual in this position ensures the company’s security aligns with its business goals, compliance requirements, and risk management strategies.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Strategic Security Leadership
- Develop, implement, and monitor a comprehensive security strategy across the organization.
- Advise senior management on potential security threats and recommend proactive solutions.
- Ensure the organization complies with industry standards and regulatory security requirements.
Risk Management and Threat Assessment
- Lead the evaluation and management of risks, ensuring the safety of employees, property, and assets.
- Conduct regular security risk assessments and vulnerability analyses.
- Implement preventive measures to mitigate identified security threats, such as external breaches or internal fraud.
Physical Security Oversight
- Oversee the physical security infrastructure, including surveillance systems, access controls, and security personnel.
- Develop and enforce security procedures for company premises, facilities, and assets.
- Coordinate security measures for special events, VIP visits, and emergency situations.
Cybersecurity and Information Protection
- Collaborate with the IT department to ensure the protection of digital assets, data integrity, and information security.
- Support efforts to prevent cyberattacks and respond to data breaches or other security incidents.
- Ensure robust network and endpoint security measures are in place.
Crisis Management and Incident Response
- Develop and maintain incident response plans, ensuring the company is prepared for and can quickly recover from security incidents.
- Serve as the point of contact for all security incidents, including theft, breaches, or physical security threats.
- Coordinate investigations of security incidents and recommend corrective actions.
Team Leadership and Vendor Management
- Lead and mentor the security team, providing training, guidance, and career development.
- Manage relationships with third-party security vendors, including contract negotiation and performance evaluation.
- Ensure adequate staffing and coordination of security personnel across the company’s facilities.
Security Budget and Resource Management
- Develop and manage the security department’s budget, ensuring efficient use of resources.
- Regularly review security technologies and make recommendations for upgrades or new acquisitions.
Compliance and Reporting
- Ensure compliance with national and international security standards, laws, and regulations.
- Prepare and present security reports to the executive team, including risk assessments and mitigation strategies.
- Manage relationships with external security vendors, contractors, and service providers.
- Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards related to security and safety.
- Develop and maintain emergency response plans and procedures and conduct drills to test readiness.
- Oversee the installation and maintenance of security systems, equipment, and technology
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in law, Security Management, Information Security, or a related field.
- Relevant professional certifications (e.g., Certified Protection Professional (CPP),
Experience
- 8-10 years of experience in security management, preferably with both physical and cybersecurity responsibilities, preferably within the FMCG or manufacturing industry
- Prior leadership experience in managing security teams, projects, and budgets.
- Proven experience in risk assessment, threat mitigation, and crisis management.
Skills and Competencies
- In-depth knowledge of security systems, policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
- Strong leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
- Strong project management and vendor management skills.
- Proficiency in the latest security and surveillance technology.
- Must have high level of integrity and ethical practice.
