About Organisation:
National Medical Stores (NMS) is an autonomous Corporation that was established by an Act of Parliament in 1993. Our mandate is to Procure, Store and Distribute medicines and other medical supplies to health facilities.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage and maintain the organization’s databases to ensure high availability, performance, and security.
- Perform database backups, recoveries, and disaster recovery planning.
- Monitor database performance and optimize query execution times.
- Implement security measures to safeguard sensitive data against unauthorized access and breaches.
- Work with developers and other stakeholders to design database solutions and ensure they align with organizational needs.
- Conduct regular system updates and patches for database software.
- Prepare detailed reports on database performance, usage, and efficiency.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Certification in database management (e.g., Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server) is an added advantage.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in database administration.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient in SQL and database query optimization.
- Knowledge of database security, backup, and recovery best practices.
