Job Title:  Chief Finance Officer (CFO)

Organisation: Kiira Motors Corporation (KMC)

Duty Station:  Kiira Vehicle Plant, Uganda

Reports to: Chief Executive Officer

Kiira Motors Corporation or KMC is a State Enterprise in Uganda established to champion the Development of the Domestic Automotive Value Chain for job and wealth creation.

 

Job Summary: The Chief Finance Officer (CFO) is a key member of the Executive Management Team, responsible for overseeing and managing the financial health and strategic planning of the organization. The CFO provides financial insights to drive business decisions, ensures regulatory compliance, and enhances profitability. In the dynamic Mobility Industry, the CFO plays a pivotal role in capital management, cost optimization, and guiding the company through market challenges and opportunities.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Financial Leadership: Develop and execute the company’s financial strategy to align with business objectives.
  • Lead long-term financial planning, forecasting, and budgeting processes.
  • Collaborate with the CEO and Executive Management Team to identify growth opportunities, mergers and acquisitions, and operational improvements.
  • Monitor industry trends and economic factors affecting the automotive manufacturing sector to make informed financial recommendations.
  • Financial Operations Management: Oversee accounting, treasury, tax, and internal audit functions to ensure accurate and compliant financial reporting.
  • Manage cash flow, working capital, and debt structures to support manufacturing operations and investments.
  • Optimize cost management across the supply chain, production, and operational expenses.
  • Implement and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track financial performance.
  • Procurement and Supplier Management: Manage and coordinate all procurement and disposal activities of the Corporation in line with the provisions of the PPDA Act and Regulations.
  • Ensure supplier adherence to company standards and oversee contract management.
  • Manage the interaction between the Corporation and suppliers to ensure mutual obligations are met.
  • Corporate Governance and Compliance: Ensure compliance with local, national, and international financial regulations, tax codes, and reporting standards.
  • Provide transparent reporting to the board of directors, investors, and regulatory authorities.
  • Manage relationships with external stakeholders, including auditors, banks, and investors.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate financial and operational risks through effective controls and policies.
  • Develop risk management strategies to address market volatility, supply chain disruptions, and regulatory changes.
  • Team Leadership and Development: Build and lead a high-performing finance team by recruiting, mentoring, and retaining top talent.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement within the finance department.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive financial discipline and operational efficiency.
  • Additional Duties: Any other duties assigned by the Chief Executive Officer.

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

Education Background

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Honors) in Commerce, Finance, Accounting, or related field from a recognized academic institution.
  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA), Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Continuous Professional Development Certificates in at least five relevant fields (e.g., CPA, ACCA, CIMA, Leadership, Project Management, Risk Management).
  • Full Membership to Relevant Professional Bodies (e.g., ICPAU) in good standing.

Experience

  • Minimum of Ten (10) Years of progressive financial leadership experience, with Experience in a Supervisory/Management Position in a reputable organization for at least Seven (7) Years.
  • Proven track record of managing large budgets, capital investments, and cost optimization in a manufacturing environment.
  • Deep understanding of automotive manufacturing processes, supply chain dynamics, and global market trends.

Skills

  • Strategic thinking with the ability to balance short-term financial goals and long-term growth.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
  • Expertise in ERP systems, accounting software, financial modeling, and advanced data analytics tools.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proven ability to navigate complex regulatory landscapes and global market environments.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in mergers, acquisitions, and corporate restructuring within the industry.
  • Knowledge of international trade laws and cross-border regulatory requirements.
  • Strong ethical standards and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment with tight deadlines.
