AIRD’s objective is to offer operational support, including but not limited to supply chain, logistics, construction, infrastructure, environment, livelihoods and WASH in partnership with relief and development organizations that focus on disaster-affected and development-oriented areas. AIRD delivers for and through partners including but not limited to UN Agencies, international and national donor organizations and governments
Job Summary: The objective of this post is to facilitate the transportation POCs, Luggage, staff etc and any other tasks assigned.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Achieve on-time delivery rate by adhering to scheduled routes and delivery windows.
- Maintain a clean driving record with zero at-fault accidents or traffic violations by following all traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Improve fuel efficiency through optimal driving practices such as reducing idling, maintaining steady speeds, and following recommended maintenance schedules.
- Ensure vehicles are kept in top condition by performing pre-trip and post-trip inspections, reporting issues promptly, and adhering to preventive maintenance schedules.
- Maintain a high level customer satisfaction by delivering goods, staff, PWSs in perfect condition, providing courteous service, and addressing any customer (donor, PWSs, staff) concerns promptly.
- Achieve 100% compliance with HOS regulations to ensure safe driving and avoid penalties.
- Ensure 100% accuracy in all documentation, including logs, delivery notes, and inspection reports, by double-checking entries and following standard procedures.
- Optimize routes to reduce travel time and fuel costs by using navigation tools and staying informed of traffic conditions.
- Ensure that all cargo and persons are properly loaded and secured to prevent damage during transit, following all load securement regulations.
- Uphold a high standard of professional conduct, including punctuality, communication, and appearance, representing the company positively.
- Demonstrate adaptability by effectively handling route changes, delivery adjustments, and unexpected challenges while maintaining delivery schedules.
- Be fully prepared to handle emergencies (e.g., breakdowns, accidents) by maintaining an emergency kit, knowing emergency procedures, and keeping communication lines open.
- Maintain physical and mental fitness to meet the demands of long-distance driving and comply with medical certification requirements.
- Reduce environmental impact by following eco-friendly driving practices, such as minimizing engine idling and reducing emissions.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Uganda Certificate of Education
- Ability to read and write
- The candidate should be self-motivated
- Ability to communicate in English
- Ability to travel to any part of the country
- Ability to work for long hours
- Valid Driving license with cases B, CM.
- Ability to drive heavy duty Trucks is an added advantage
