The African Initiatives for Relief and Development (AIRD) is a non-political, non-religious and non-profit making NGO with Country Program Offices in Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Niger, Republic of Congo, South Sudan, Tanzania, and Uganda. AIRD’s objective is to offer operational support, including but not limited to supply chain, logistics, construction, infrastructure, environment, livelihoods and WASH in partnership with relief and development organizations that focus on disaster-affected and development-oriented areas. AIRD delivers for and through partners including but not limited to UN Agencies, international and national donor organizations and governments
Job Summary: The objective of this post oversight of the day-to-day operations of warehouse, ensuring efficiency, safety, and productivity.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure daily tasks such as receiving, picking, packing, and shipping are completed on time.
- Monitor and optimize the productivity of warehouse staff.
- Implement procedures to reduce downtime and streamline operations.
- Maintain accurate records of inventory movements.
- Minimize inventory discrepancies by conducting regular stock counts and audits.
- Ensure proper storage and handling of products to prevent damage and loss.
- Oversee the accuracy of order picking, packing, and shipping.
- Ensure that all outgoing orders meet quality standards and customer requirements.
- Identify and address any issues that could lead to errors or delays.
- Enforce safety protocols and ensure the warehouse is a safe working environment.
- Conduct regular safety checks and audits.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Supervise, motivate, and support warehouse staff.
- Provide training and development opportunities to improve team skills and knowledge.
- Manage staff schedules, including shift planning and leave management.
- Maintain clear and effective communication with the warehouse team, managers, and other departments.
- Coordinate with other supervisors to ensure smooth workflow and task delegation.
- Address any issues or conflicts that arise within the team promptly and effectively.
- Ensure all warehouse equipment is properly maintained and operational.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or needs for repair/replacement.
- Manage the use of resources such as packing materials and storage space efficiently.
- Contribute to the accurate and timely fulfilment of customer orders.
- Address any issues that could impact customer satisfaction, such as delays or errors in order fulfilment.
- Work towards improving overall service levels and customer experience
- Quickly identify and resolve issues that arise during daily operations.
- Make informed decisions to keep operations running smoothly, especially during peak times or unexpected disruptions.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelors Degree in Logistics and supply chain management, warehousing or any other related field.
- At least 5 years’ experience in warehouse/ stores operations.
