Job Title: Senior Lecturer (Law) – Full Time

About the Company:
Uganda Christian University (UCU) is an authentic Christian institution established by the Church of Uganda in 1997 in response to a call for quality university education with a Christian perspective. Uganda Christian University replaced the historic Bishop Tucker Theological College which trained clergy and educators during its 84-year history from 1913-1997. The local chief, Hamu Mukasa, granted land for the college to operate in Mukono.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- To teach at undergraduate and postgraduate level in areas allocated by the Dean of Faculty/Head of Department
- To carry out research, teaching, mentoring, supervision and administration within the school.
- To engage with the broader scholarly and professional communities.
- To contribute to the development, planning and implementation of a high quality curriculum.
- To assist in the development of learning materials and maintaining records to monitor student progress, achievement and attendance.
- To supervise or assist with supervision of undergraduate and post- graduate students.
- To participate in departmental and faculty seminars aimed at sharing research outcomes and building interdisciplinary collaboration within and outside the department
- To participate in the development, administration and marking of exams and other assessments.
- To provide mentorship, internship and support to students.
- To provide student support in pastoral roles, counselling and career guidance.
- To participate in the administration of the department’s programs of study and other activities as requested.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- A Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Law/Doctor of Laws (LLD) from a recognized institution of Higher Learning
- A Master of Laws (LLM) from a recognized institution of Higher Learning.
- Bachelor of Laws (LLB) Degree from a recognized institution of Higher Learning.
- Must have taught at university level for at least three years at the rank of Lecturer.
- Must have two current scholarly article publications with a peer reviewed publisher in the area of academic expertise OR at least one article and two book chapters OR a book in one’s area of specialization with a peer reviewed publisher.
- Must show outstanding skill and effectiveness in teaching and in research, and supervision of undergraduates.
- Must be a mature and committed Christian
