Job Summary:   Oversee daily administrative and technical operations of the radiology department

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assessing patients and their clinical requirements to determine appropriate radiographic techniques and support in delivery of quality patient care.
  • Participate in procurement of imaging related supplies.
  • Undertaking quality control checks on x-rays and associated equipment and contributing to quality assurance and audit initiatives.
  • Ensuring that equipment is regularly checked for malfunctions and any faults reported.
  • Observing and maintaining contact with patients during their waiting, examination and post examination and post examination stay in the department.
  • Supervision/training and mentoring other staff who may be part of the imaging department.
  • Provide appropriate counselling and health education to patients and their relatives in conjunction with other clinicians, nurses.
  • Mobilize and participate in customer care handling of patients with urgency and compassion.
  • Strictly observe high level of ethical and professional standards as prescribed by International and Uganda Medical /Allied health professional bodies.
  • Participate in continuing medical education as required by the Uganda Medical and Allied council
  • Recording imaging identification and patient documentation quickly and accurately and observing protocols to ensure compliance with the Data Protection Act and patient confidentiality.
  • Observing and maintaining health and safety at work and welfare issues, including ionizing radiation regulations to protect yourself and others
  • Carry out other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor from time to time.





Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Medical Radiography.
  • Minimum of 2-4 years’ experience in medical diagnostic radiography.
  • Certificate of registration with the Allied Health Professional’s Council.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Meticulous attention to details.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Problem solving abilities.
