Job Title: IT User Support – Full Time

About the Company:
Uganda Christian University (UCU) is an authentic Christian institution established by the Church of Uganda in 1997 in response to a call for quality university education with a Christian perspective. Uganda Christian University replaced the historic Bishop Tucker Theological College which trained clergy and educators during its 84-year history from 1913-1997. The local chief, Hamu Mukasa, granted land for the college to operate in Mukono.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Sets up and configures desktop computers, peripherals, and accounts assigning security level;
- Installs software and installs and repairs hardware and peripherals;
- Tests programs and new technology;
- Set up accounts, and workstations and monitor the performance of the Alpha MIS;
- Develop expertise to train staff on new technologies and added functionalities in the Alpha MIS;
- Provide ICT support to all UCU users in response to raised trouble tickets;
- Carry out all preventive maintenance work for all University computers and associated office equipment;
- Maintains systems, databases, and web pages;
- Administers user accounts;
- Designs, produces, and stores proper technical records of all repair, support work, and spares usage and provides timely feedback on these activities to the Senior Network Administrator;
- Assist with any ICT-related installation works as may be required from time to time;
- Be willing to travel to all UCU campuses when called upon;
- Perform any other official duties as may be assigned by the supervisors.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or any other related field. A professional certification like (CCNA, MSCE, etc.) is an added advantage.
- Must have at least two (2) years of working experience in a similar role
- Should demonstrate practical IT skills in areas like Windows Operating Systems and Linux Operating Systems
- Administration-level skills for at least two (2) years with server operating systems
- Must be willing to be called upon to serve during non-conventional working hours
