Okalang Law Chambers carries out legal services as a firm of Advocates, Solicitors, Legal Consultants, Legal Investment and Tax Consultants, Commissioners for Oaths, Trademark and Patent Agents, Receivers, Liquidators, General insolvency practitioners and Company secretaries.
Job Summary: The Advocate will be responsible for handling a variety of legal matters, including attending court sessions, preparing legal documents, conducting legal research. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional legal acumen, outstanding advocacy skills, and the ability to provide sound legal counsel to clients. You will work closely with our legal team to provide high-quality legal services to our clients
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Represent clients in courts of law, tribunals, arbitration and handle case files from inception to completion.
- Prepare and file legal documents such as, pleadings, contracts, agreements, submissions affidavits, and other legal paperwork, ensuring accuracy and compliance with legal standards.
- Conduct legal research, analyze laws, rulings, regulations, and judicial precedents to be able to provide legal opinions on various legal issues.
- Provide legal advice to clients in regards to their rights, obligations, and courses of action based on the law.
- Manage and maintain case files and ensure timely progress of cases through the courts of law.
- Ensure that clients comply with legal and regulatory requirements by conducting due diligence on various legal matters, and review corporate policies and procedures.
- Carry out other related duties assigned by the Managing Partner
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor of Laws Degree (LL. B) from recognized institution.
- Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre
- 2+ years of post-enrollment experience as an Advocate in a reputable law firm.
- Must hold a valid practicing certificate.
- Proven experience in drafting and reviewing legal documents.
- Excellent legal research and analytical skills.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple assignments, and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in using legal research tools and software.
- High levels of integrity, professionalism, and ethical standards
- Efficient in both spoken and written English
