Job Summary: We are seeking a highly dedicated Area Coordinator who will be responsible for planning, managing, and overseeing forestry operations within a designated area, including seedling raising, tree planting, and tree management. This role ensures sustainable practices that comply with health and safety regulations and maximize financial returns. The Area Coordinator manages forestry resources, a team of Branch Coordinators and Field Monitoring/evaluation team.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plan, supervise, and manage field activities, including budgeting, resource allocation, transportation and field based relationships.
- Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
- Coordinate with district agencies, local NGOs, media, private sector entities, and other stakeholders for seamless operations and knowledge-sharing.
- Develop and lead a team of dedicated personnel to ensure productivity and high performance.
- Supervise Branch and Parish Coordinators in environmental awareness campaigns within local communities.
- Facilitate community workshops, meetings, and planning sessions to establish nurseries, demonstration plots, and promote awareness of the company’s forestry model.
- Organize tree seed distribution and collaborate with local leaders and farmer groups for experience-sharing and incentivizing best-performing farmers.
- Conduct field visits to monitor operations, resolve issues, and provide necessary referrals.
- Perform regular performance evaluations, maintaining thorough records of activities, budgets, and research findings.
- Conduct and document action research on forestry and agricultural practices, sharing insights for continuous improvement.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by management in alignment with company policies and strategic goals.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Forestry, environment, business studies or any related field
- Fluency in Luo languages is an added advantage
- Knowledge of forestry or environmental management is an added advantage
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Internet)
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and within a team, under minimal supervision and under pressure
- Strong enthusiasm for environmental conservation and sustainable practices
- Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to engage with diverse stakeholders
- High attention to detail and organizational ability
- Self-motivated with a passion for conservation
