Job Summary: We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Agronomist Extension Officer to join our team.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work with farmers to provide agronomic support and technical guidance on best practices in crop management.
- Conduct field visits and provide training to farmers on pest and disease control, soil management, water management, and other aspects of crop production.
- Guide and manage harvests of crops including chillies, eggplants and hass avocado
- Develop and implement extension programs and demonstration plots to showcase best practices and new technologies to farmers.
- Collect data on crop performance and provide regular reports to management.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure that crop production meets quality standards and customer requirements.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of previous experience in agronomy or related field.
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy or Crop Protection.
- Strong knowledge of crop management and best practices in agriculture.
- Experience working in the community and having local community linkages in Western and South Western Uganda as well as other key districts
- Willingness to spend time extensively in rural areas.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficient in the use of computer applications, including Microsoft Office.
