Job Summary:   WFD, are now looking to recruit an experienced Project Coordinator to support the development of its Strengthening Accountable Democracy in Uganda [SADU] Programme in Uganda.

​Reporting to the WFD Country Director, the Project Coordinator – SADU will be responsible for the delivery of WFD activities under the SADU programme, ensuring that delivery is on track to achieve programme objectives, within the prescribed budget and timeframe.

This role provides a high degree of coordination both with NIMD and the EU, as well as several other project partners.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:   ​

  • Key responsibilities for this role will include leading, driving and coordinating the day-to-day delivery of programme activities, managing administrative and logistical requirements in the planning, budgeting, implementation, and reporting of the programme. Monitoring and managing programme risk, prepare and disseminate project documentation, lead in the preparation of the narrative and financial reports, design and manage the collection of monitoring and evaluation data and communicate successes and achievements.
  • This role will play a central role in stakeholder management and will collaborate closely with key officials of partner organisations and beneficiaries including the Parliament of Uganda, Government agencies, WFD implementing partners, among others.
  • ​The role will also be expected to contribute to development of future business opportunities specifically for Uganda and to contribute to WFD’s wider work in the region as required.
  • ​The Project Coordinator – SADU will be supported by, and line manage a small team, a Project Officer and a Project Administrative and Finance Assistant.
  • The Project Coordinator – SADU is a member of the WFD Uganda Country Team.






Qualifications, Skills and Experience:  The core skills and experience we are looking for are;

  • ​At least four years’ experience working in programme management at a senior level, including working through all stages of the programme management cycle, monitoring and evaluation methodologies, contracts and compliance, donor relations and working in partnership.
  • Experience of leading and managing small teams.
  • Knowledge and experience in financial management: at least three years’ experience in managing budgets and financial transactions.
  • Competent reviewing data and producing reports.
  • Exceptional planning and organisation skills and experience working to a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to work with diverse and multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Flexibility to work in a fast-changing environment, with the ability to manage and prioritise a range of operational, financial and administrative responsibilities.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to multitask and effectively plan and organise your workload.
  • Excellent written and spoken English and fluent in the dominate language.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft 365 suite of Office products (e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Dynamics)
  • Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline (for example, international development, political science, project management, public administration) OR significant experience.
  • Knowledge of Uganda’s political process and political background and the challenges of democracy building in the country.
  • An understanding of issues of exclusion of disadvantaged groups, including youth, women, people with disabilities, LGBTQ+ people.
