Job Summary: We are seeking a creative and proactive Communications Intern to join our team. The intern will support the organisation’s Communication function in implementing strategies to increase visibility and engagement with our organization’s work. This role provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in digital communications, content creation, social media management, and public relations in a mission-driven organization.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Support in drafting newsletters, social media content, press releases and other written materials to promote the organization’s activities and events.
Help monitor and manage social media accounts, including scheduling posts, responding to inquiries, and tracking analytics to measure engagement.
Assist in the development and execution of the organization’s communication strategy.
Assist in the design and production of marketing materials such as brochures, infographics, and promotional content.
Support internal communication efforts by assisting with team newsletters and announcements.
Provide support in organizing and promoting events, including developing event materials and coordinating media coverage.
Maintain and update media and stakeholder contact lists.
Help track and evaluate the performance of communications initiatives, providing feedback for improvement.
Capture and share stories, photos, and testimonials that illustrate the impact of the organization’s work.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field.
Strong writing and editing skills, with attention to detail.
Proficiency in social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn) and experience with content management systems (CMS).
Basic graphic design skills and familiarity with tools like Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar design software.
Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team.
Experience with photography, videography, or multimedia production is a plus but not required.
Ability to work independently and show initiative.
Previous internship experience or work related experience in communications, journalism, marketing, or public relations is a plus.
