Southgate Industries is a leading fruit processing company, located in Kampala Industrial & Business Park (KIBP Namanve). We process pineapples, mangoes, and bananas into puree, concentrate, and other value-added products.
Job Summary: The Management Accountant is responsible for preparing management reports, conducting financial analysis, budgeting, and supporting strategic financial decisions for SGI. This role ensures that management has the financial insights needed to drive efficiency and profitability in operations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
The Management Accountant oversees:
- Budgeting and Forecasting
- Cost Control and Analysis
- Financial Reporting
- Inventory and Cost Accounting
Duty/Responsibility
- Develop and maintain the annual budget and financial forecasts, providing insights into cost control and resource allocation.
- Prepare monthly budget variance reports and provide recommendations for corrective actions.
- Monitor production costs and overheads, conducting regular cost-benefit analyses to optimize company spending.
- Analyze cost drivers in the production of pineapple juice concentrate and bottled products and suggest ways to improve profitability.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual management reports, providing key insights into financial performance.
- Report on key financial metrics such as profitability, return on investment (ROI), and operational efficiency.
- Maintain accurate costing records of raw materials and finished goods, ensuring proper valuation of inventory.
- Oversee the stock valuation process, working closely with the production and stores teams.
- Supervise the Weighbridge Controller, ensuring accurate weighing of raw materials and finished products.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior finance team members.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- A minimum of 2 -3 years experience as a Management Accountant in a reputable manufacturing company
Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Certified Professional Accountant (Either ACCA or CPA).
Additional skills:
- Proficiency in business management, MS Excel modelling, Power point presentations
- and accounting software, such as Sun system.
- Extensive knowledge of accounting standards and financial regulations.
- Strong mathematical and analytical aptitude.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Superb leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent collaboration and communication abilities.
- Time management skills.
