Southgate Industries is a leading fruit processing company, located in Kampala Industrial & Business Park (KIBP Namanve). We process pineapples, mangoes, and bananas into puree, concentrate, and other value-added products.
Job Summary: The Logistics Supervisor will oversee the transportation and delivery of raw materials to the plant and finished goods to customers. The role includes planning and coordinating shipments, managing drivers, and ensuring cost-effective and timely deliveries.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: The Logistics Supervisor will oversee the following
- Logistics Planning
- Fleet Management.
- Delivery and Distribution
Duty/Responsibility
- Plan and oversee inbound and outbound logistics, ensuring timely deliveries and cost-effective transport solutions.
- Coordinate with production, warehouse, and procurement teams to align logistics schedules with production and sales demands.
- Manage and monitor the performance of the company’s fleet of vehicles, ensuring they are well-maintained and operated efficiently.
- Coordinate vehicle maintenance and ensure compliance with road safety regulations.
- Ensure on-time delivery of raw materials to the plant and finished products to customers.
- Optimize delivery routes and schedules to reduce transport costs and improve service levels.
- Supervise drivers and logistics assistants, assigning tasks and monitoring performance.
- Train and mentor logistics staff to ensure operational excellence
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Three – 4 years of experience in logistics or transport coordination.
Educational Requirements:
- Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
Additional skills:
- Strong organizational and planning skills.
- Ability to manage multiple shipments and deadlines.
- Knowledge of logistics, supply chain management, and warehousing.
- Good communication and problem-solving skills.
