Southgate Industries is a leading fruit processing company, located in Kampala Industrial & Business Park (KIBP Namanve). We process pineapples, mangoes, and bananas into puree, concentrate, and other value-added products.

 

Job Summary: The HR Assistant is responsible for supporting the execution of HR functions including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, and payroll. The role requires maintaining HR records and coordinating staff development activities.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:   The HR Assistant oversees:

  • Recruitment, selection, and onboarding of new employees.
  • Maintain employee records and update HR databases.
  • Coordinate training programs and performance evaluations.

Duty/Responsibility

  • Support recruitment by posting job advertisements, screening resumes, and coordinating interviews.
  • Support employee onboarding, so that new hires are properly integrated into the company.
  • Assist in processing payroll, ensuring accurate and timely payment of wages.
  • Manage employee benefits programs, including health insurance and leave administration.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and ensure compliance with labour laws and company Policies
  • Monitor staff contracts, probation periods, and performance reviews, ensuring timely updates.
  • Coordinate staff training and development initiatives to enhance employee skills and knowledge.
  • Assist in performance management processes, ensuring timely appraisals and feedback.





Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • At least 2 years of experience in HR, preferably in the manufacturing or food/beverage industry

Educational Requirements:

  • Degree in Human Resources Management or related field.
  • Postgraduate diploma in Human Resource Management is desired

Additional skills:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of HR practices and labour laws.
  • Organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
