Southgate Industries is a leading fruit processing company, located in Kampala Industrial & Business Park (KIBP Namanve). We process pineapples, mangoes, and bananas into puree, concentrate, and other value-added products.

 

Job Summary:  The HR & Admin Manager will oversee the human resources and administrative functions at SGI, ensuring effective talent management, employee engagement, and administrative support. The role will involve recruitment, training, performance management, and compliance with labour laws, while also managing the company’s general administrative operations

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

The HR & Administration Manager will oversee the following functions

  • Recruitment, Talent Management and Exits
  • Training and Development
  • Employee Relations and Compliance
  • Administration

Duty/ Responsibility

  • Develop and execute recruitment strategies to attract and retain top talent.
  • Oversee the onboarding process and ensure effective employee orientation and integration.
  • Implement training and development programs to enhance employee skills and productivity.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with labour laws and company policies.
  • Address employee grievances and foster a positive work environment.
  • Manage day-to-day administrative functions, including office management, and facility maintenance.
  • Ensure administrative systems are efficient and well-organized.
  • Ensure efficient management of people or talent exits

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Experience – At least 5-7 years of experience in HR, with a preference for manufacturing environments, especially food processing or fruit juice production
  • Knowledge of labour laws and regulations – Familiarity with local labour laws, health and safety regulations, and employment compliance requirements in the food industry is essential.
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resource management, Business Administration, or a related field – A solid academic foundation in HR or business administration is crucial.
  • Postgraduate Diplomas in HR Management is a must.
  • A Master’s degree in human resources or MBA is an added advantage
