About the Company:
The Regional Service Centre in Entebbe, Uganda (RSCE) was established in July 2010, following the adoption of General Assembly resolution 64/269. The Centre provides efficient, client-oriented and scalable services with the goal of moving transactional, non-location dependent administrative functions to the Centre from its client entities. This includes transactional elements of human resources, finance, multimodal movement and control, personnel and cargo transport and information and communications technology (ICT) support.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: Within delegated authority, the Property Management Assistant is responsible for the following duties: Under the supervision of the Warehouse supervisor who is responsible to the Chief Property Management Unit, performs the following duties:
- Assist in receiving, inspection and put-away of all incoming items to appropriate warehouse Bin location.
- Updates all physical verification records and stock cards and asset/inventory status in Umoja system. Ensure newly received items are labelled and properly arranged in the storage shelves/bins, and correctly entered the system.
- Assists in conducting physical inspections United Nations Property and cycle count of inventories (consumable/expendable property) in accordance with Centralized Warehousing Operations Manual
- Assist in reporting anomalies and/or discrepancies on stock balance identified during the physical count to warehouse supervisor to be corrected.
- Assist in warehouse operations and ensure warehouse and all storage facilities neat and tidy ensuring shelves are free from cobwebs and dust.
- Sort and file all paperwork such as goods receipt slips, Issue slips, Hand over/ Take over vouchers and other warehouse documents in their appropriate folders.
- Assists the supervisor in dealing with the commodity managers for preparation and processing of equipment write-offs through relevant property survey boards.
- Prepare deliveries against approved Task Order (TO) and support timely delivery of goods to the beneficiaries at the right place where items are required.
- Assists in the preparation of statistical analysis and trend analysis on United Nations property.
- Perform any other task as required
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Job – Specific Qualification
- Certification/diploma or training in a logistics related discipline, i.e. supply chain management or another relevant field is desirable.
Work Experience
- At least two years of progressively responsible experience in Property management, material management and inventory control or related practices and procedures is required.
- Experience in warehouse operations is desirable.
- Experience in operation of Material Handling Equipment is desirable.
- Languages: English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position(s) advertised, fluency in English is required; and knowledge of French is an advantage. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
