Job Summary:   The QA officer-chemistry lab provides support to the Quality Department by independently performing standard analyses on samples ranging from raw materials to semi-finished products, finished products and waste water. The Analyst will display good laboratory skills and an understanding of basic chemical principles and fundamental analytical chemistry theories. She/he will operate and maintain instrumentation, define and measure quality metrics and report results in an appropriate manner. He/she will participate with senior personnel in refining current techniques, troubleshooting problems and documenting processes, procedures and results.

 

He/she shall be impartial when carrying out laboratory activities and ensure information is kept confidential.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Carryout sampling, accurately prepare samples and conduct routine chemical analyses on raw material, semi-finished and finished product samples daily as scheduled and as per Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Prepare analysis solutions/reagents for reference and usage.
  • Prepare and maintain documents to conform to suitable regulatory requirements and report results on time
  • Prepare laboratory requests for consumables such as reagents and present requests for replacement of supplies if required.
  • Daily monitoring of facility and environmental conditions to ensure validity of results.
  • Assist laboratory team leader/supervisor to investigate non-conforming results and establish appropriate corrective actions.
  • Assist team leader in investigating customer complaints and implementation of corrective actions
  • Independently operate various standard analytical instruments and perform basic maintenance according to established methods.
  • Assist senior personnel with troubleshooting, advanced maintenance and verification/calibration of analytical instrumentation.
  • Support and assist senior personnel on improvement to analytical procedures using existing equipment.
  • Contribute to development, modification of work instructions, procedures, protocol, as well as verification and validation of analytical methods.
  • Carry out analysis and interpretation of results
  • Make sure ISO 17025 standard is maintained and followed properly
  • Communicate daily operational details and issues affecting the analytical Lab operations to senior personnel.
  • Contribute to the daily operational tasks and organization of the analytical Lab
  • Perform all work in a safe and environmentally conscious manner by following all OHS/EMS policies/procedures/programs and ensure waste generated is properly managed.
  • Implement documented control measures to prevent occurrence of impartiality and quality laboratory risks
  • Data analysis and report writing to assist lab management in decision making.
  • Perform any other task as per management request




Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences, Laboratory Sciences, Chemistry, Food Science and Technology, or any other related discipline from a recognized university OR
  • A Diploma in the above areas with previous experience in a similar position
  • Fresh with three months satisfactory on Job Training. One year of experience on similar role in busy environment is preferred.

Key Requirements:

  • Familiar with Beverage production or any manufacturing process.
  • Familiar with basics of laboratory testing and basic test related to beverages.
  • Have strong analytical and comprehension skills.
  • Good in report writing and computer skills.
  • Training in Food Safety and Hygiene handling techniques
  • Basic knowledge in management system implementation (ISO 9001 or 17025 in particular)
