Job Summary:   The Commercial Manager – Mobile Telephony Industry, will lead the business in income generation activities. This will be achieved through providing leadership to a team of +50 area leaders who in turn will oversee a total of +250 field-based team of freelances to acquire and activate new customers for our client. The person will set targets, drive income generation and work across the organization to manage the delivery of activations targets. The role holder will have overall responsibility of leading, motivating and coordinating the team on a day-to-day basis and while ensuring robust planning for longer term sales and commercial activities;

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Strategic Execution:

  • Participate in the design and development of the overall Sales and Commercial Strategy.
  • Ensuring alignment of the goals and objectives of the business
  • Oversee and lead in the implementation to attain the set goals
  • Ensuring great relationships with the client as well as other strategic trade partners.
  • Develop and oversee the implementation of expansion plans as well as strategies to accelerate business growth.

Business Processes and Growth:

  • Continuously ensure understanding of business objectives by the teams.
  • Identification of new business growth opportunities and efficiencies to grow both the teams as well as performance.
  • Ensure the implementation and usage of business processes across the organization aimed at ensuring consistency in performance and reports for improvement of performance.
  • Leveraging on the insights from the reports to identify new trends and develop forecast to improve current as well as future growth.

Team Building & Management

  • Building a great and motivated team.
  • Provide leadership to direct reports, through meetings, accompaniment as well as through individual coaching.
  • Ensure that the team has both the capacity and capability to become the best of whom they are.
  • Ensure pipeline of growing leaders.
  • Oversee recruitment, retention and route optimization of the sales team. This will include constant pipeline of recruitment of teams for both expansion and replacement of those who fall out.
  • Champion a culture of performance and delivery; built on open and collaborative communication.

Performance Management:

  • Oversee the day to day revenue generation and growth of other income streams such as from the shops and addition of services for continued growth.
  • Using the sales performance application continuously monitor the performance of sales and commercial activities along the set metrics
  • Analyse the business performance, along the key performance indicators and prepare reports to senior management on performance.
  • Leveraging on market understanding through intelligence and data to give team best situational direction for performance.

Budget Management:

  • Lead in developing the sales and commercial budget annually with quarterly reviews.
  • Oversee and ensure the optimization of this budget to drive higher performance.
  • Put in place metrics for success on budget spends on activations.

Stakeholder Management:

  • Develop strong relationships both internally and externally
  • Internally: – with the different functions within the company including Sales Operations & Admin and Finance as well as the technical team
  • Externally: – With clients. This will include clarity and alignment on expectations and targets.

Shops Management:

  • Put in place strategy to grow revenue from the shops.
  • Monitor the performance of the individual shops and put a corrective plan in place.
  • Identify new areas of growth and recommend the addition of new services.




Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

Minimum Requirements & Key Skills

  • A bachelor’s degree
  • A minimum of 5 years relevant experience in field teams management.
  • Experience in working with Field Sales Applications.
  • Experience in relationship management both up and down.
  • Experience in collaborative working and coordination of diverse teams.
  • Working knowledge of how to build business plans based on market research and analysis
  • Ability to manage various projects concurrently.
