Electrical Controls & Switchgear Ltd is an acknowledged specialist in the provision of electrical services to the engineering, manufacturing, construction, and process industries.

 

Job Summary:   Under the supervision of the Finance Director the Accountant will undertake the Finance data processing by the preparation of documents of original entry, initial data entry and management of the document filling process. This position performs a variety of accounting tasks including management of Accounts payables and receivables as well as costing.

 

The Person: A mature lady aged between 32 and 35 years with high level of integrity and at least 5 years of continuous work experience in related field.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Accounting:

  • Updating general ledger with approval; reconcile selected general ledger accounts; write journal entries for reclassification of expenses as needed.
  • Prepare and process all transactions and enter them into the QuickBooks accounting system on a daily basis
  • Generate daily reports of all transactions in QuickBooks accounting systems
  • Track company creditors and process weekly credit reconciliations for MD review.
  • Perform periodical and annual inventory counts and give MD inventory status.
  • Prepare annual and monthly budget and be a point of contact for all staff budget guide, and; be contact person for department inquiries concerning budget and actual expenses.
  • Follow bank transactions for all bank accounts, prepare weekly/monthly bank reconciliation of all bank accounts and also prepare monthly review reports.
  • Perform account reconciliations of all balance sheet accounts as requested by the MD
  • Prepare weekly billing for all accounts receivable, and ensure timely receipt of payment.
  • Act as back-up to include assistance with company inquiries concerning financial information.
  • Maintain filing systems for all accounting documents.
  • Process and account for expenses advanced to staff and related expense claims.
  • Create and maintain proper files, of both hard and soft copies of accounting documents.
  • Process and remit all tax related payments such as VAT, corporate tax etc
  • Make monthly and annual tax returns as required by law
  • Work with the internal and external auditor to verify accounts and accounting report
  • Maintain documents (evidence) to support all transactions processed.
  • Cost jobs to ensure value for money.

Payroll:

  • Perform monthly payroll of all- employees, as well as prepare related requisitions for staff related remunerations etc.
  • Process payroll information and check for miscalculations/misapplications in payroll and report errors to MD
  • Responsible for complete correctness of payroll data-entry.
  • Input and maintain employee statutory requirements such as NSSF, and PAYE
  • Take charge of Electronic Receipting and Invoicing System (EFRIS)
  • Ensure regular external system back up especially for QuickBooks so that data isn’t lost in case of any eventuality.
  • Undertake any other tasks which may be assigned by the MD

 




Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field plus CPA U qualification
  • Able to perform accounting functions in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Practices
  • Advanced knowledge of a variety of office practices and procedures, use of office equipment, including 10-key calculator, MS Office software, and Quick Books accounting software.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality of employee and company records and information.
