Job Title: Waste Utilisation Specialist
Organisation: Lukhwells International Limited
Duty Station: Kampala, Uganda
About Organisation:
As part of its energy management strategy, Lukhwells International Limited aims to advise national, regional and local Governments to improve energy efficiency and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, notably through partially substituting fossil fuels by waste-to-energy conversion. Inadequate waste management practices are associated with air, water and soil pollution, and negative impacts on ecosystems, affecting human, animal and plant health. The use of waste in the cement industry contributes to adequate and appropriate waste management, improved resource efficiency and reduced GHG emissions, thus supporting international climate agreements and the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals such as inclusive and sustainable industrialisation (SDG 9), sustainable cities and communities (SDG 11), sustainable consumption and production (SDG 12), and climate action (SDG 13). High temperatures in cement kilns enable the destruction of even the most novice substances, creating a win-win situation for the environment: less waste sent to landfills, less risk of fire, less fossil fuels, and less Cot emissions in cement production. Lukhwells International Limited is prospecting to submit a proposal for funding and will need the following services:
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
Master’s degree or higher in industrial engineering, waste management, environmental engineering, energy engineering, or similar.
More than 10 years experience in the cement sector, particularly with the use of waste materials in cement processes
In-depth expertise in evaluating different wastes, the procedures and standards required for waste utilisation, and the monitoring and evaluation of clinker quality and pollution indicators.
Experience in managing waste utilization in cement plants. Experience in developing countries is an asset
Fluency in written and spoken English and French
How to Apply:
Interested candidates and qualified experts should submit application documents by email to: The Director, Lukhwells International Limited, admin@lukhwells.com
Deadline: 4th October 2024.
