Job Summary: The Stores Assistant is responsible for managing and organizing the various stores within the factory (Raw material, finished goods, spare parts). This role ensures that products are stored correctly, inventory levels are maintained, and that goods are readily accessible for distribution. The role involves handling goods, maintaining accurate records, and working closely with other departments to ensure efficient operations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Inventory Management:
- Receive, inspect, and record incoming and outgoing goods.
- Ensure accurate stock levels by conducting regular inventory counts and reconciling discrepancies.
- Organize and categorize goods in storage areas to maximize space and ensure easy retrieval.
Storage and Handling:
- Safely store goods according to company guidelines and safety regulations.
- Use appropriate handling equipment and techniques to move goods within the warehouse.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of storage areas.
Documentation and Record Keeping:
- Update inventory management systems with product details, quantities, and storage locations.
- Prepare and maintain accurate records of goods received, stored, and dispatched.
- Generate reports on inventory levels and stock movements as required.
Quality Control:
- Inspect goods for quality issues or damage upon receipt and before dispatch.
- Report any discrepancies or issues to the relevant departments and follow up on resolutions.
Collaboration:
- Work closely with the logistics teams to coordinate the movement of goods.
- Assist in the preparation of goods, ensuring all documentation and labeling are correct.
- Support other stores staff and assist in training new team members as needed.
Compliance:
- Follow company policies and procedures related to health and safety, stores, and inventory management.
- Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements related to goods (where applicable)
Health and Safety:
- Follow safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
- Participate in safety training and adhere to health and safety regulations.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Qualification: Bachelor’ Degree/Diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or a related field.
- Linguistic skills: Fluent in English (Spoken & Written)
- Experience: 3-5 years of professional experience in a busy environment preferably in the manufacturing sector.
- Residency status: Preferably Ugandan National or holder of Certificate of Residence, but open to Expatriates
- Age: Above 30 Years
- Remuneration: Salary is negotiable.
Key Skills:
- Proven experience in a similar role is preferred.
- Good computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Excel
- Familiarity with inventory management software is preferred
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Good communication skills
- Ability to lift and move heavy items and perform physical tasks as required.
- Ability to work under pressure
- Strong time management skills
- Accuracy in record-keeping.
- Ability to operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts (training can be provided).
- Ability to work well in a team
