Job Summary: The Project Officer will oversee the field execution of social projects under the Uganda Coffee Sustainability team, including VSLA, GALS, and Cash Transfer initiatives with coffee smallholder farmers. And in parallel work on collaborative projects with sector partners related to EUDR and CSDDD. Projects are now mainly focusing on robusta growing areas, and will expand further into arabica regions from Uganda.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Implementation, monitoring, planning and budgeting of social field projects related to cash transfers, VSLAs, GALS and youth inclusion.
- Maintain Due Diligence documentation for CSDDD and EUDR Legality.
- Develop and implement Due Diligence action plans and Social and Environmental Action Plans.
- Manage collaborative projects on EU CSDDD regulation, with large group of stakeholders.
- Report on narratives, KPIs and budgets to donors, clients and internal management.
- Maintain relationships with our field team, farmers, farmer groups and project partners.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- An academic degree in Human Rights, Legality or related field.
- At least 3 years of experience in project management, field supervision and/or commodities.
- Previous experience with Due Diligence such as ESG, CSDDD or EUDR legality documentation.
- Expertise on monitoring of and field interventions to remediate broad range of human rights risks (child labor, forced labor, gender and youth workers’ rights etc.)
- Experience with narrative and financial proposal writing and reporting to different stakeholders such as clients, partners and internal management.
- Experience with digital data collection tools, data quality checking & analysis.
- Proactive, independent, with analytical mindset with good communication skills.
- Network and implementation experience in coffee sector in Uganda.
- Fluent in English and Luganda, other local languages are a plus.
