About Organisation:

ACTS Uganda is a long standing NGO operating in South Western Uganda for more than 30 years. Together with their partners ACTS Canada, they build Gravity Flow Systems (GFS) and provide comprehensive WASH training to help people living in Water Poverty.

 

Job Summary:  Acts Uganda is hiring a Business Development Officer who will work collaboratively with Acts Uganda and Acts Canada to raise money and our profile in support of our mission of bringing clean water to people in need. We are interested in someone with a business development background, local and international grant writing experience, or experience with an NGO.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Identify and pursue funding from local and international donors, foundations, and government agencies.
  • Research to understand donor markets and identify grant opportunities using relevant tools and software.
  • Write three compelling grant proposals per month.
  • Build and manage a pipeline of prospects, moving opportunities through the pipeline.
  • Cultivate relationships with prospective donors and partners.
  • Develop grant proposals and concept notes aligned with Acts’ mission.
  • Represent Acts at conferences, events, and donor meetings.
  • Collaborate with Acts Canada on joint fundraising efforts.
  • Track and report business development activities using key metrics.

 



Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, international development, or related field (WASH course is a plus).
  • 3+ years in business development, fundraising, grant writing, or proposal management.
  • Willingness to learn. We will provide training, but we need a humble attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Proven success in securing funding from international donors, foundations, and government agencies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong networking and relationship-building abilities.
  • Proficiency in donor research, proposal development, and project design.
  • Knowledge of international development and fundraising best practices.
  • Fluency in English, with great attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities with minimal supervision.

  • Strategic Thinking: Identify business opportunities, prioritize grants, and manage limited resources.
  • Executive Presence: Represent Acts professionally in high-level meetings.
  • Relationship Building: Strong interpersonal skills to maintain relationships with donors, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Writing & Marketing: Flawless grant writing and ability to use modern web applications to “sell” the impact of Acts’ work.

The ideal candidate will combine business development expertise with a passion for ACTS’ mission, leveraging their grant writing skills and donor relationships to drive revenue growth through successful fundraising proposals and partnerships in close coordination with the Acts Canada team.
