About the Company:
Yalelo (U) Limited is a tilapia fish farm that was established in Uganda in 2019. The farm is located in Butembe, Buikwe district on the shores of Lake Victoria. Yalelo Uganda is a subsidiary of First Wave Group B.V; a Dutch company with a portfolio of aquaculture related assets in Africa. First Wave Group owns and operates Yalelo Zambia, a pioneer of Aquaculture founded in 2011 that has grown quickly to become the leading fish farm in Zambia and among the largest aquaculture farms in Africa.
Job Summary: The Accounts payable accountant is responsible for the Yalelo (U) Limited accounts, recording and posting transactions to the general ledgers and support of the financial controller in the preparation of the general ledger for the management accounts. Furthermore, the incumbent assists in managing the month-end close process and is responsible for the maintenance and update fixed assets.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist in complete, accurate and timely delivery of the monthly general ledger of Yalelo (U) Limited
Assist in the timely closing of the books through a strictly managed of Yalelo (U) Limited month end close process.
Manage complete and accurate accounts payable position through effectively execute all required controls around cost and accounts payable (i.e. 3-way match, reconciliation of all vendor statements on weekly basis, accruals check, age analyses)
Make sure accruals and costs are accurate and complete, keep track of all accruals from all departments and adjust during the end month’s close process.
Maintain an up-to-date fixed asset/position record through:
Correct classification of opex and capex
Monthly up-to-date fixed assets report.
Ensure all firmwide projects are capitalized upon completion.
Reconciliations for all WIP, capitalization and depreciation and matching the register to the trial balance.
Perform quarterly asset verification and tagging of all fixed assets and reconciliation of physical assets to the tracking system.
Track and monitor capex spent monthly.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
Minimum of Second-class Upper bachelor’s degree in accounting.
Professional qualification (ACCA, CPA) is an added advantage.
D365 Knowledge is an added advantage.
At least 2 years of related work experience.
Highly motivated, results driven, responsible and accountable.
Self-sufficient, capable of independent decision making.
