Infectious Diseases Institute (IDI) is an independently governed institute within the College of Health Sciences at Makerere University and has the mission “To strengthen health systems in Africa, with a strong emphasis on infectious diseases, through research and capacity development.” IDI has operations across Uganda as well as in a number of other African countries and has a staffing of over 1,000 managing multiple projects in research, clinical services, public health and training.
Job Summary: A facilities assistant is critical in maintaining an efficient and safe working environment. His/her responsibilities range from coordinating maintenance tasks to managing office space and supervising cleaning schedules.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Coordinate maintenance work
He will supervise and coordinate maintenance work to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the premises. This includes overseeing repairs, and managing preventative maintenance tasks.

liaising with external contractors and maintaining a solid rapport with staff members
Manage inventory
The Facilities assistant will play a key role in tracking and managing inventory of supplies, equipment, and assets. This involves regularly checking inventory levels and ensuring all equipment is in good working order.
Oversee security
Working closely with the services and security team, the facilities assistant will help to ensure a safe and secure work environment. This includes assisting with safety protocols, key holder management, and monitoring access to the premise.
