About the Company:

Yalelo (U) Limited is a tilapia fish farm that was established in Uganda in 2019. The farm is located in Butembe, Buikwe district on the shores of Lake Victoria. Yalelo Uganda is a subsidiary of First Wave Group B.V; a Dutch company with a portfolio of aquaculture related assets in Africa. First Wave Group owns and operates Yalelo Zambia, a pioneer of Aquaculture founded in 2011 that has grown quickly to become the leading fish farm in Zambia and among the largest aquaculture farms in Africa.

 

Job Summary:   The primary role of the Controller is to spearhead the fish farm financial aspects, support the Head of Finance in ensuring compliance with the internal controls at farm level. The Job holder is the finance contact person at the farm responsible for liaison between the corporate and industrial aspects of the business. The Incumbent is responsible for the quantity accounting of Yalelo (U) Limited and the associated valuation.





Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Supervise the inventory and quantity accountant.

Ensure that there is Complete, accurate and timely delivery of daily and monthly quantity accounting of Yalelo (U) Limited.

Appraisal of the quantity accounting in terms of stock losses and stock valuation.

Maintain overview of key stock controls and make sure controls are operational and effective.

Appraisal of stock loss results and identification of opportunities for the improvement of stock losses.

Provide guidance on farm cost management and review of costs with departmental heads monthly.

Coordinate the farm level annual budget activities.

Support External Auditors at farm level.

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

A Bachelor of Accounting or Statistics

A full Professional qualification (ACCA, CPA)

D365 Knowledge is an added advantage.

At least five years of related work experience.

Sound knowledge of IFRS

Good understanding of internal controls.

Strong mental & physical stamina

Highly motivated, results driven, responsible and accountable.

Self-sufficient, capable of independent decision making.
