Job Summary:   The Business Development Officer is responsible for generating new sales and driving portfolio development in Uganda.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop a strategic sales plan and identify sales opportunities, to drive revenue growth, expand our customer base and customer retention in Uganda.
  • Develop a network of national and international contacts, which are relevant to Koltiva’s portfolio development and communication work in Uganda.
  • Set up, maintain, and grow relationships with potential clients from the food and agriculture sector as well as with donors, international and local partners, and consultants.
  • Participate in relevant regional positioning events and help to develop and translate key market messages and communication strategies in coordination with the global Marketing and Products team.
  • Prepare and share marketing materials and relevant information with potential clients and partners on an ongoing basis as part of positioning activities.
  • Prepare winning project concepts and proposals to potential clients in coordination with the Sector Leads and the International Grant Manager.
  • Assess the HR capacity for a potential tender, recommend team structure, advertise positions, interview potential team members, and define contracts for team members and consultants.
  • Conduct market research using multiple channels to refine and evolve sales strategies for Uganda.
  • Collaborate with dynamic Koltiva teams across the globe to identify and capitalize on market opportunities, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives.
  • Prepare regular progress reports and forecasts to internal and external stakeholders using business development metrics





Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in business administration, finance, sales, or related field.
  • Experience in business development roles – 3 years minimum
  • Sound conceptual skills and ability to put down concepts on paper in good quality.
  • Proactive with networking, bridging and facilitating skills; one who can open doors.
  • Experienced and able to work with a range of stakeholders including government agencies, donors, private sector, foundations, trade associations etc.
  • Strong negotiation and leadership skills.
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications as well as CRM software.
  • Excellent communication skills and fluent in English and Local Language
  • Understanding and interest in agro-industries
  • Eager to learn and pro-active attitude
