Makerere University, Kampala is Uganda’s largest and oldest institution of higher learning, first established as a technical school in 1922. It became an independent national university in 1970. Today, Makerere University is composed of nine colleges and one school offering programmes for about 36,000 undergraduates and 4,000 postgraduates.
Job Summary: Pump and maintain water levels in the tank and ensure regular water distribution in the University
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Monitor water levels in the tank to determine amount of water to be pumped to maintain specific levels of water for distribution to the entire University;
- Clean water tanks and remove algae and other physical impurities from the tanks;
- Operate the University generator to pump water into the tank;
- Report any mechanical faults on the water pump and generator to the supervisor;
- Perform any other related duties as assigned by the supervisor from time to time.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Certificate in plumbing or an equivalent certificate in Mechanical Engineering;

- Interpersonal skills;
- Computer literate;
- Attention to detail;
