Job Summary:   Apata Insights, a leading research organisation based in Kampala, Uganda, seeks a highly skilled Research Associate to contribute to our mission of delivering exceptional research solutions in the developing world. We are committed to driving data-driven insights that inform critical decisions and foster positive change.

As a Research Associate, you will play a pivotal role in the entire research lifecycle, from conceptualisation to execution and dissemination. You will collaborate with a dynamic team of experts to design, conduct, and analyse complex research projects. Your work will have a direct impact on shaping our research agenda and delivering actionable recommendations to our clients.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Lead and contribute to quantitative research projects, including data collection, analysis, and interpretation.
• Develop innovative research methodologies and statistical models to address complex research questions.
• Produce high-quality research reports and presentations that effectively communicate findings to diverse audiences.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with organisational goals.
• Mentor and develop junior research staff.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

• Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in a quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Econometrics, or related).
• At least 5 years of related experience
• Proven track record in conducting rigorous quantitative research.
• Proficiency in statistical software packages (Stata, R, Python).
• Experience with data management and analysis tools.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Experience designing CAPI-based data collection platforms (Survey CTO, ODK, Survey Solutions).
• Demonstrated experience in scientific writing (journal publications preferred).
