Job Summary: The Product Manager – Business Lending is responsible for all business lending credit activities in FINCA Uganda. This responsibility includes achieving all client, portfolio and P.A.R. targets, working directly with Regional Managers, Branch Managers, Credit Supervisors and Loan Officers allocated to the product, and supporting the Head of Credit and the Regional Managers in the implementation of the products in compliance with the policies and procedures.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Designing, innovating and ensuring quality delivery of business lending product lines and initiating implementation strategies and action plans for growth of the product lines.
- Designing product performance tracking tools and transform pertinent processes into standard policies and procedures in line with FINCA Uganda’s policies and procedures
- Executing Credit committee processes in accordance with policies and procedures and reviewing, appraising and approving loans above branch approval limits.
- Training, guiding and mentoring credit personnel on credit assessment, monitoring and recoveries, and assessing performance targets.
- Ensuring compliance, managing risk through frequent branch visits and preparing score card on a monthly basis
- In conjunction with the Legal Officer, prepares, preparing and drafting instructions for all delinquent client files to be sent to the external Lawyers and Auctioneers for litigation and closely following up of these cases including executions of warrant of arrests and attachment of collateral
- Making periodical reviews of FINCA Uganda’s credit processes and making recommendations to Management for the purposes of correcting any inadequacies
- Setting up, supervising and coordinating the work of soft collections for the product to ensure quality loan portfolio at all times.
- Effectively organizing and attending regular head office based delinquency meetings and ensuring that all branches regularly hold the weekly and monthly delinquency meetings
- Conducting supervision visits to all branches and reviewing lending process to ascertain level of compliance to policies and procedures, existence of the clients’ businesses to which the loans have been disbursed, verifying the quality of collateral pledged and reviewing the loan field analysis conducted by the loan officer.
- Supporting the Head of Credit, and operations team in delivering superior customer experience across all FINCA service delivery channels.
- Ensuring that the process of customer acquisition and service delivery across all branches and other service points is anchored on delivering a consistently superior customer experience
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Degree in commerce, accounting, business administration or banking.
- Excellent knowledge of micro finance and principles and practices of banking
- At least 2 years’ experience as a Branch Manager or 1 year as Product Manager in a Microfinance Deposit Taking Institution or Commercial Bank.
