Job Title: Nursing Officer, Makerere University Health Services

Makerere University, Kampala is Uganda’s largest and oldest institution of higher learning, first established as a technical school in 1922. It became an independent national university in 1970. Today, Makerere University is composed of nine colleges and one school offering programmes for about 36,000 undergraduates and 4,000 postgraduates.
Job Summary: Provide quality nursing care services in the hospital and community.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Participate in planning, budgeting, monitoring and evaluation of Nursing Services in the health unit/ward;
- Provide support supervision in the provision of nursing care;
- Prepare and implement nursing services day roaster;
- Requisition and account for medical supplies and equipment;
- Maintain a clean and healthy ward environment;
- Compile and submit reports to the Principal Medical Officer;
- Supervise and appraise staff;
- Perform any other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Double-trained nurse at registered level such as Registered Nurse/Psychiatry or with a Certificate in Nursing Administration or Health Services Management from a recognized institution;
- A degree in Nursing from a recognized training institution is an added advantage;
- Must be registered and licensed with the Nurses and Midwives Council.
Experience
- Minimum of three (3) years relevant working experience at Nursing Officer level in the Public Service

- Time management.
