Job Title: Accounts Assistant – Full Time (Fresher Jobs)

About the Company:
Uganda Christian University (UCU) is an authentic Christian institution established by the Church of Uganda in 1997 in response to a call for quality university education with a Christian perspective. Uganda Christian University replaced the historic Bishop Tucker Theological College which trained clergy and educators during its 84-year history from 1913-1997. The local chief, Hamu Mukasa, granted land for the college to operate in Mukono.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for student account verification for correctness and completeness.
- Posting receipts to student ledgers.
- Reconciliation of student’s registration for each semester with academic registration records.
- Reconciliation of student accounts and submission of adjustments to Revenue Accountant for review and adjustment.
- Attending to students’ queries concerning their accounts, responding to their emails via student’s accounts portal, online clearances and referring those that are not under jurisdiction to relevant offices.
- Provision of individual student statements.
- Support the preparation of the student clearance status reports and examination lists.
- Support the processing of fees refunds due to students.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Revenue Accountant and or Head of Finance.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Must be a holder of a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with bias in Accounting or Finance, or any other related Accounting and Finance Degree obtained from a recognized institution of higher learning.
- Must have at least level II of professional qualification in Accounting like CPA or ACCA.
- At least two (2) years’ work experience as an Accounts Assistant; Familiarity with basic accounting principles; ability to work as part of a team and take direction accurately.
- Knowledge of computer accounting packages like Pastel, SAP is a MUST.
- Should have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work beyond normal working hours.
- Must be a committed and practicing Christian.
