Job Title:   Assistant Technician, Department of Biochemistry and Sports Science

About the Company:

Makerere University, Kampala is Uganda’s largest and oldest institution of higher learning, first established as a technical school in 1922. It became an independent national university in 1970. Today, Makerere University is composed of nine colleges and one school offering programmes for about 36,000 undergraduates and 4,000 postgraduates.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Preparing student practicals;
  • Supervision of practical sessions under guidance from chief technician and lecturer in charge;
  • Maintenance of equipment;
  • Record keeping and inventory stock taking;
  • Ensuring safety guidelines in laboratory;
  • Development and establishment of standard operating procedures (SOPs) with
  • guidance from Chief Technician.





Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Diploma in Laboratory Science Technology (Biology, Chemistry) or Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology

 

Age Limit: APPLICANTS SHOULD NOT EXCEED FIFTY FIVE (55) YEARS OF AGE AT THE TIME OF APPLICATION.
