About the Company:
Uganda Revenue Authority is a semi-autonomous Government Agency under the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development that is mandated to assess, collect and account for Government Tax and Non-Tax Revenue.
Job Summary: Ensure efficient functioning of all electrical and electronic installations in different facilities of URA.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensure that all Equipment in the facility are well maintained and in good working condition
- Ensure that all Power equipment, Air conditioning equipment, Lighting and other Electrical systems are in kept in good working condition.
- Carryout routine inspections in line with standard procedures to mitigate breakdowns.
- Carry out approved new installation works and repairs to the existing equipment/systems.
- Ensure approved, timely and proper decommissioning of obsolete equipment/systems.
- Participate in carrying out Preventive maintenance on all equipment in the regions and maintain logs and reports of the same.
- Work with service providers/contractors to ensure value for money and standardised equipment/systems
- Ensure that URA Electrical equipment and systems;
- have standardised TORs,
- Are developed as per guidelines of the best industry practise
- Prepare and submit reports as may be required by the Supervisor Facilities Management
- Provide Guidance to Management, PDU and other stakeholders on applicable “green’ initiatives.
Plan and manage the performance and development of staff under supervision so as to improve their productivity
- Develop performance agreements with all staff under supervision
- Monitor staff performance and provide guidance and periodic feedback for performance improvement
- Assess the training and development needs of staff under supervision and recommend appropriate interventions
- Provide coaching and mentoring support to staff under supervision
- Initiate and implement activities/programs intended to create and harness teamwork in the facilities management unit
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
Essential Requirements
- An Honor’s Bachelor’s degree or its equivalency of a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized academic institution.
- At least three (03) years’ experience in electrical maintenance and repairs, electrical design, construction supervision and related works
- An impeccable record of integrity and professionalism
Desirable Requirements
- Membership / affiliation with Uganda Institution of Professional Engineers
Knowledge
- Sound knowledge of health, safety and environmental regulations.
- Knowledge of procurement laws and regulations
- Ability to assess, and plan for required resources
- Skill in budgeting for required resources
- Possess thorough knowledge of facilities low & medium voltage electrical distribution systems including transformers, MCC’s, generators, ATS’, UPS’ etc.
- Possessing good knowledge of the latest NEC codes with ability to read and interpret design drawings and specifications
- Knowledge in CAD
- Advanced computer literacy (Word, spreadsheet, presentation)
