About the Company:

Established in 2018, SEMA is a not-for-profit enterprise called Stichting SEMA based in Uganda. SEMA empowers citizens to provide real-time feedback on their experiences with public services.

 

Job Summary:  The Communication Officer is responsible for developing and implementing effective communication strategies to promote SEMA’s mission, vision, and impact. This role involves managing public relations, media relations, digital communications, and internal communications. The Communication Officer will work closely with the management team and other departments to ensure consistent messaging and brand identity.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Public Relations:

  • Develop and implement public relations strategies to enhance SEMA’s reputation.
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders, including government officials, NGOs, and community leaders.
  • Manage crisis communication and reputation management.
  • Maintain good relations with stakeholders such as fellow civic actors, public & private partners.

Digital Communications:

  • Develop and manage SEMA’s website and social media platforms.
  • Produce high quality engaging content, including articles, blog posts, and videos.
  • Monitor online conversations and engage with the target audience.
  • Measure and analyze the performance of digital campaigns.

Internal Communications:

  • Develop and implement internal communication plans to foster employee engagement. Manage internal communication channels.
  • Create internal newsletters, employee communications, and staff events.




Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or a related field.
  • Three years of Experience in media relations and public relations.
  • Strong writing and editing skills.
  • Proficiency in digital marketing and social media platforms.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
