Job Summary: The Cloud Infrastructure Engineer at WV Uganda is responsible for designing, implementing, supporting, and maintaining cloud network services and information systems. This role ensures the effective operation of messaging, collaboration, and IT solutions for the National Office. The engineer collaborates with the Head of IT & Digital to monitor and report on cloud services, aiming for maximum uptime, reliability, and visibility.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- IT Network and Capacity Planning (15%): Collaborate with business analysts and clients to understand network-related needs, analyze requirements, and ensure infrastructure compatibility. Develop strategies for network & system patches and adhere to policies and standards.
- Infrastructure Management (30%): Deploy and maintain hardware/software components, automate tasks, implement new technologies, and improve system reliability. Lead disaster recovery plans and ensure security measures.
- Cloud Systems Administration (25%): Manage user access, administer Microsoft cloud services, maintain system documentation, and conduct risk assessments. Improve system performance and conduct proactive security assessments.
- FCAPS Management (10%): Monitor system activities, design testing efforts, and ensure cloud systems performance meets business needs. Provide performance reports.
- Customer Support (10%): Resolve server and cloud service issues, provide training and documentation, and offer responsive support.
- Vendor Management (5%): Work with vendors to resolve issues, monitor service levels, and ensure compliance with requirements. Evaluate vendor solutions and manage contracts.
- Research/Evaluation (5%): Conduct technical research on upgrades, maintain metrics, and develop continuous improvement plans.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Experience: Minimum 5 years as a Network Administrator, including 2 years with advanced network, cloud, or systems experience. Proficiency in Microsoft Windows, NAS/SAN systems, DNS, DHCP, O365, and security controls. Experience with virtualization platforms like VMware and Microsoft Hypervisor.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in IT or related fields, with over 5 years of relevant experience.
- Skills: Excellent customer service, communication, analytical, and troubleshooting skills. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Certifications (Preferred): CCNP, MCSE: Cloud Platform and Infrastructure, Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert.
