About the Company:
Uganda Post Limited, trading as Posta Uganda. UPL is the most extensive provider of postal services in Uganda, having an extensive network of postal delivery outlets down to sub-county level.
Job Summary: Ensure proper maintenance and handling of the Post Bus to guarantee safety of passengers, mail, and third parties.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain a valid driver’s license with the required classes and adhere to all driving rules and regulations.
- Operate the Post Bus safely and in accordance with traffic laws and regulations.
- Follow predetermined routes and schedules to ensure timely mail delivery and passenger delivery.
- Performance routine checks on the Post Bus to ensure it is in good working condition, including checking oil, fuel, tires, lights and brakes.
- Maintain accurate records of miles travelled, fuel consumption, and any incidents or issues encountered during the route.
- Ensure the security of mail items and maintain the confidentiality of customer information.
- Be prepared to respond to emergencies, providing first aid or other assistance as needed.
- Adhere to all the postal and transportation regulations, procedures and standards
- Help passengers with special needs such as elderly or disabled individuals, ensuring they receive appropriate assistance.
- Occasionally check passengers and luggage to ensure complete ticketing by the conductor
- Ensure cleanliness, safety, and safe custody of the Post Bus after work.
- In liaison with Bus Conductor, manage relationships with brokers, local authorities, and other relevant authorities to maintain supreme respect for the Post Bus
- Fill in and sign the Daily Bus Return and deliver to supervisor immediately
- upon arrival at Head Quarter.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
Minimum Qualifications
- O-Level certificate
- A valid driver’s permit with classes B, CM, CH, DL, DM, DH Defensive Drivers’ certificate
- Bus Drivers’ License issued by Transport Licensing Board
Working experience
- Four (o4) years working experience as a Bus Driver
Competences
- Proficient in operating buses of various sizes and types
- Knowledge of traffic laws, regulations and safety procedures
- Friendly and courteous demeanor when interacting with passengers
- Knowledge of bus routes, stops and schedules
- Clear and effective communication
- Time management
- Ability to fix minor mechanical problems
- Upholding professional standards of conduct and integrity.

REQUIRED EDUCATION: High School
