About the Company:
Uganda Revenue Authority is a semi-autonomous Government Agency under the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development that is mandated to assess, collect and account for Government Tax and Non-Tax Revenue.
Job Summary: Implement strategies for managing internal and external communications to enhance information flow and media relations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and execute URA’s communication and public relations strategies, including media relations, and public awareness campaigns to promote tax compliance and enhance the organization’s image.
- Develop and implement URA’s communication and public relations strategies, aligning all activities with the organization’s mission to mobilize revenue for national development.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with media outlets, journalists, and key stakeholders to ensure accurate and favorable coverage of URA’s activities
- Execute targeted media campaigns to raise public awareness about tax policies, compliance requirements, and URA’s services, ensuring the organization’s key messages reach the intended audiences
- Organize press briefings, media coverage, interviews, and public events to effectively communicate URA’s initiatives and achievements.
- Support the development and implementation of crisis communication plans to manage public relations issues and protect URA’s reputation.
- Facilitate internal communication efforts to ensure staff are informed and engaged with URA’s objectives, policies, and key updates.
Develop content and disseminate a variety of communication materials across multiple platforms, including publications, digital content, and press releases, ensuring consistent and effective messaging.
- Develop content (written, photos and videos) for a variety of communication channels, including newsletters, annual reports, brochures, and social media platforms and submit to the line management for review and approval.
- Implement programs to disseminate timely and accurate of information to the public and stakeholders, leveraging various communication channels for maximum reach and impact.
- Maintain and manage the archiving system to store and retrieve communication materials and records, ensuring that historical content is preserved and accessible for future reference.
- Build and maintain information networks that facilitate the effective distribution of URA’s messages and enhance public understanding of its initiatives.
Monitor the impact of communication initiatives, report on outcomes, and coordinate with other departments to maintain cohesive communication efforts.
- Track and analyze the effectiveness of communication campaigns, media coverage and public opinion and provide reports on outcomes and impact to the line manager.
- Collaborate with different departments to ensure consistent messaging and support cross-departmental communication initiatives.
- Foster effective relationships and synergies between departments by facilitating communication, providing timely updates, and coordinating joint initiatives to ensure a cohesive and unified approach to organizational messaging.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
Essential Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree or its equivalency in Journalism or Mass Communications from a recognized academic institution.
- At least two (02) years of working experience in a media environment, specifically in a newsroom in a reputable organization.
- An impeccable record of integrity.
Desirable Requirements
- Specialized training in Public Relations
- Experience in photography and videography
- Experience in Editorial writing
- Exposure to taxation and business at a global scale.
Knowledge
- A fair understanding of URA business
