About the Company:

Communication for Development Foundation Uganda (CDFU) is a non-governmental organization that provides Development Communication services aimed at influencing positive behavior change for the social development of men, women and children in Uganda and the entire East African Region. CDFU is a partner on the “I Decide Project” Phase II with funding through Plan International Uganda. Plan International Uganda acquired a Grant from Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) Finland through Plan Finland to implement a four-year project aimed at increasing access to SRHR information and services to children, adolescents and youths.  The project is implemented through collaboration with partners including CDFU and CBOs at sub-county level in the districts of Apac, Kwania, Kole, Lira, Alebtong, and Lira City.

 

Job Summary:  The project Officers facilitate the delivery of the programmes by implementing and monitoring programme activities. The project Officers will work in close collaboration with district leadership, structures and networks, civil society and community-based organizations, faith-based organization and the media to ensure smooth and effective implementation of CDFU programmes.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead implementation of project activities in a project site / district
  • Represent CDFU in district coordination meetings at district level
  • Liaise with district local government and OPM officials, refugee settles, as necessary (Community Development Officers, Child and Family Protection Officers, Probation Officers, District Health Officers, District Education Officers, Refugee Welfare Councils) and sub county leaders in project activities
  • Coordinate with partners, organizations, districts, communities, and support groups that work in the related areas to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with the project and CDFU as a whole.
  • Compile and document success stories, as well as use learning from them for project
  • Participate in design, implementation and monitoring of mass media, including radio talk shows, radio dramas, print materials, among others.
  • Manage knowledge and information to ensure that essential information is recorded, managed, and available for stakeholders of the campaign as well as of CDFU.
  • Prepare weekly, monthly and quarterly reports
  • Document success stories in the cluster districts
  • Be part of the district GBV referral network
  • Any other duties as assigned by the supervisor/ CDFU Management.




Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • A degree in either of the following; Women and gender studies, human rights, development studies, social sciences, community development or related field.
  • Have a 3 years’ experience in implementing projects in Gender and Sexual Reproductive Health, community development.
  • Experience working in refugee settlements is desirable
  • Experience in riding motorcycles with a valid permit.
  • Demonstrate knowledgeable practice of working with districts, non-governmental and community-based organizations as well as government departments.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and ability to work as a team.
  • Good presentation, writing, facilitation and analytical skills.
  • Computer skills of Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point.
  • Good programme formulation, implementation, monitoring and evaluation skills
  • Good knowledge of Refugee settlement, Gender equality and gender related laws and policies will be an added advantage for Refugee Settlement districts
  • Prior knowledge of SASA! Methodology will be an added advantage for Amudat district
